"This project can breathe new life into what we do. It's a positive sign in an industry that's had so few of them."

open ocean: searching for solutions

When fishing quotas impacted the livelihood of fisherman in many smaller coastal towns, Open Ocean Trading responded by creating forward contracts to give fishermen and buyers a new tool to compensate for the changes. The idea is that fishermen should be able to make better business decisions by receiving the quantity and value of their catch before they even leave the dock, while buyers secure supply ahead of time and know exactly where their fish are coming from. The goal is to provide a fresher, more sustainable, and stable fishing industry.
